Balance Screening
What it is:
Covered by insurance for patients of Integrative Medicine at Crossroads
The test requires you to stand on a machine and takes less than 10 minutes. It tests three sensory systems: vision, somatosensory, vestibular.
Who is it for:
Anyone with a history of falls, dizziness, or balance concerns.
What to do with the results:
Optional Functional Movement Assessment and corresponding training program with our movement specialist Christina.
Functional Movement Assessment
What it is:
Covered by insurance for patients of Integrative Medicine at Crossroads for patients with prior medical clearance.
As we age or become less active, strength, balance, posture, and coordination can decline. Functional movement assessment and subsequent training focuses on improving how the whole body works together to reduce strain and lower injury risk.
In less than one hour, our movement specialist will guide you through a set of assessed movements (sit-to stand; reaching/lifting; core stabilization, balance screening etc).
Who is it for:
Functional movement assessment and training is ideal for older adults, individuals new to exercise, those managing chronic conditions, people returning from inactivity, and anyone wanting to move more safely and confidently.
What to do with the results:
Attend a follow-up appointment with our movement specialist Christina to review the results and come up with a plan using corrective exercises.

Echolight (REMS) High-Resolution Bone Density Ultrasound
What it is:
REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) technology is an innovative, radiation-free solution for evaluating bone density and strength at the spine and hip.
This test takes about 30 minutes and involves using an ultrasound probe on your bare abdomen and upper thigh.
The test also includes an InBody scan which measures body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, and provides a visceral fat score.
Please do not eat within 4 hours of the test.
Who is it for:
This test can be done at shorter intervals than traditional DEXA scans, allowing us to track progress when you start a new intervention.
What to do with the results:
After your scan, you will receive an immediate report and be booked for a follow-up visit with one of our providers to discuss your results and come up with a plan.
Cost:
The test itself is $100, and the 1 week follow-up with our providers to review the results is covered by insurance.
If you prefer to forgo the follow-up with one of our providers due to an insurance plan that is not accepted at Crossroads, the cost of the test and result print out is $250.
